What to do in Panama?

  • Do you prefer to be surrounded by nature and take in the fresh air? Right in the heart of the city you will find a tropical forest and wildlife preserve in the Metropolitan Natural Park.
  • The Cinta Costera is an enormous public space right by the ocean, and offers incredible views of both the city and the bay.
  • Are you looking for gastronomic experiences? Panama was declared Panama was declared a Creative Gastronomic City by UNESCO in 2017, you must try Panamanian cuisine, which is unique and comprises flavors, dishes and ingredients of African, Spanish and native influences.

How do I get to Panama City?

From Marcos A. Gelabert Airport (Albrook), there’s a variety of transport options.
If you’re in a hurry to get to your destination, we recommend that you take an Authorized Taxi located by the Arrivals Airport Exit, or you can order a ride with your preferred ride service app. If you need help making sure the app is available in Panama, go to our Visitor’s Information Center
located by the check-in area (next to Kotowa), where one of our Tourism Promotors will be happy to help.

We also have a robust public transportation system available. You can take the MetroBus (C820) which will pick you up in front of the Red Cross and the REY Supermarket (after exiting the airport, take a right and then a left turn on the first street, there you will see the Red Cross and the REY right near the bus stop). The MetroBus will take you directly to the Albrook Terminal, where you can take a variety of buses or subways to get to your destination.

Before exiting, remember to recharge your MetroBus card at the machine located inside the airport by the main exit (near arrivals). If you don’t have a MetroBus Card, you can purchase one at the Albrook Terminal. To see the available routes of MiBus, click on this link

If you prefer to be behind the wheel, you can find a variety of car rental services inside the Airport by the main exit (near arrivals). These include Thrifty, AVIS, Hertz, National, Budget and Alamo.

Is there a Currency Exchange Counter at the Albrook Airport?

No, there is no place to exchange your currency in the airport. However, you can find some in the area of Via España with Via Veneto and Calle Ricardo Arias.

If you are traveling to Bocas del Toro, you can find a Currency Exchange counter in the Bocas airport once you land.

Where can I get a local SIM Card for my cell phone?

In the Marcos A. Gelabert Airport (Albrook) you can visit the Souvenir shop where you can purchase a SIM card from a variety of providers.
